Lever-type Hardware
Handles, pulls, latches, locks and other opening devices on access doors should have a shape that is easy to grasp with one hand and does not require tight grasping, tight pinching, or twisting of the wrist to operate. They should be mounted within certain specified reach ranges. lever-operated mechanisms, push-type mechanisms, and U-shaped handles are acceptable designs In most cases, knob or thumbpiece trim can he replaced with ever trim and installation can be accomplished with limited re-work of the door.
Low Open resistance and Delayed Action Door closers
Doors with delayed action features give a person more time to maneuver through doorways. They are particularly useful on frequently used interior doors such as entrances to toilet rooms, The opening resistance of the closer must conform to ANSI specifications in making buildings and facilities accessible to and usable by physically disabled people.
Automatic and Power assisted Door Operators
Automatic door openers are designed to open a door safely and slowly. They are activated by either a switch or sensor. Power-assisted door operators are equipped with a switch mechanism which activates once the door is moved slightly toward the open position. The motor then assists door opening and as with automatic operators holds the door open for a preset period of time.
